Happy Holidays

A happy holiday to all. I'm afraid that I won't be able to post any research items on the blog for a couple of weeks. I'm going to have a minor operation which will keep me away from the internet for a short while. However, as I'll be recouperating up in Yorkshire, I'm going to take the opportunity to visit the West Yorkshire Archives to search their Church Records, both non-conformist and Anglican. I'm hoping to find a lot of births, marriages and deaths from 1770 to about 1960 in my various families that lived in the West Riding. I'll report back in a couple of weeks. Best wishes, James.

Best of luck with the operation, James. I'll look forward to seeing what you find in the archives!

Yorkshire -- now that seems like a MUCH better place to recouperate than Atlanta.

All the best for a speedy recovery, and for 2007 too James!

Do you have any more info on John White
He was FROM tividale
John White still remains a mystery I’m guessing his birth date to be around 1830 to match his wifes.
He had daughter Jane in 1856-7.
I know from Janes Wedding certificate that his occupation was that of a carter.
By the census of 1861 I can’t find John as he had died.

Steve - thanks for your comments. I'll update the Archive trip in a later post. It was extremely unsuccesful!!! It got quite funny how few church records I could find. And has given me a bit of a problem - as the family I'm looking at lived next door to the Church, but appear to have never visited it! Keep up the good work with your blog, I always enjoy reading it. James

Residentmush - thanks for your question about John White. I have a John White, born in Tividale around 1836. He is the son of George and Hannah White, who lived in Oldbury and Tividale before moving to West Bromwich. George White was born in around 1805 in Oldbury at the Presbyterian Church. I know he had a younger sister Hannah, but do not know anything about any younger brother called John. Good luck with your searches.
